FOR TODAY
Outside my window...
Yet another cloudy day, not very cold for January for which we are thankful as heating costs are reduced.
I am thinking...
How very blessed we are.
I am thankful...
We have further reduced heating costs by turning down the thermostat in the parts of the house we don't use much.
In the kitchen...
Planning to try a new recipe for a Lemon Blueberry Buckle from a book called "Rustic Fruit Desserts" by Cory Schreilber and Julie Richardson. Have a batch of probiotic yogurt started and thinking about trying a batch of kefir which I read is very healthful and the "champagne of milk". Sounds intriguing.
I am wearing...
A boot length black twill skirt, tights and Privo ballet sport flats with a purple long sleeved Pima cotton tee from JJill and a necklace which my mother-in-law gave me for my birthday handcrafted by Ageratum . . . dyed purple wooden and golden star beads.
I am creating...
A "Mosaic Tye-dye" sock wool scarf on the Schacht loom (have heard that sock yarn works very well for scarves so we'll see) and have finished the dark blue boucle scarf with very pleasing results. Thinking of making some pillows and bags with some of the handwoven fabric. Still mulling.
I am going...
Nowhere soon.
I am reading...
Bible
A Guide to Fervent Prayer by A. W. Pink
Springs in the Valley by Mrs. Chas. Cowman
Streams in the Dessert by Mrs. Chas. Cowman
Making the Most of Life by J. R. Miller
Herb Quarterly
Favorites from our Table from First Baptist Church of Crofton
Wild Fermentation by Sandor Ellix Katz
Preserving Food without Freezing or Canning by The Gardeners & Farmers of Terre Vivante
I am hoping...
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Ro 15:4
I am looking forward to...
My Quiet Time which I have to admit is my very favourite time of the day, eclipsing all else when I settle down with my Bible to read, meditate and pray.
I am learning
About God's will for my life.
Around the house...
Peaceful and lovely.
I am pondering...
Garden planting plans.
A favorite quote for today...
One minute of nearness to the Lord Jesus
contains more delight
than years spent in communion with any earthly friend.
~Elisabeth Prentiss
One of my favorite things...
Hearing from loved ones.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Hope to scan some more old photographs and clippings into our family history files.
A peek into my day...
When I peered out the bedroom window early one recent morning, I was elated to see a pretty little bluebird sitting on the front porch roof. Perhaps it is because of our "guard cat", Max, but they tend not to come close very often but I do see them enjoying the berries in the door baskets and on the shrubs where I gathered them.
